2022 Summer Reading List
Lifetime of Learning
We always look forward to the book recommendation issue of Envisions. It's fun to see what is influencing our thinking as a team and for our founders at the portfolio companies. As you will see, it's a varied list.
Sharing books and articles are such a good way to learn from others. We have a Vestigo Slack channel on interesting articles where on any given day, one or two articles pop up with a short blurb on why it was interesting to the team member who shared it. The articles are often about other’s perspectives on investing or lessons that are being learned in venture. This sharing helps create a way to have an experience that replicates being in the office and taking on the issues of the day around a cup of coffee.
Of course, we also have a Slack channel for Wordle! One of the fun crossovers has been an article shared on the best approach to choosing your first work in Wordle. We canvassed the team at one of our morning meetings and found many pick randomly while others choose HEART or ADIEU or START as it's the statistically proven best three words for finding the answer.
Summer reads are a fun way to help with the stresses of the past couple of years. It is also a way to connect beyond finding great entrepreneurs and their companies. A great process involves trust, which we find can be built in work but also in play.

Come Sail Away
What can top a great team getting out on the Boston Harbor to sail on a beautiful day? We are working hard to ensure our culture grows and our relationships flourish while we are still in work from home ("WFH") mode as a firm. We decided that one way to do this is to have in person monthly meetings followed by a fun, team bonding activity.
In July, we were able to accomplish these objectives of fun and relationship building. We managed to sail on a perfect day, avoiding the heat wave that has made summer such a challenge. We learned about each other's interests and our level of sailing expertise. The good news for investors is that this is a cerebral group without much sailing experience!
